This project was especially meaningful to us, as the homeowners are close friends we’ve known for over twenty years. It marked not only our first design and build project in Hsinchu, but also a challenge rooted in trust. To ensure smooth coordination with construction teams from outside the city, we spent countless hours refining drawings and schedules—so that our friends’ home could be completed on time and exactly as envisioned.

The space is grounded in warm wood tones, layered with the couple’s imagination for color and their carefully curated board game collection. As a design team proudly devoted to cats, our attention naturally turned to the home’s true “original resident”—their beloved orange cat, Lu Ganju.

Taking advantage of the double-height interior, we intentionally preserved the vertical volume to create an elevated circulation path just for Ganju, allowing him to survey his territory from above and fully enjoy his sense of command. On the day of the photoshoot, the welcoming host did not disappoint—gracefully weaving through cat doors and lounging within the gentle warmth of the wooden space, clearly expressing his affection for this new domain.
